How does escrow work?
When you book, you pay Jirani, not the provider. We hold the money while the work is done. When you approve, the provider is paid. If they decline or cancel, it all comes back to your Jirani balance, fees included, and you can withdraw it to M-Pesa.
How do I pay?
With M-Pesa (you get the usual "enter your PIN" prompt on your phone) or with your Jirani balance. Providers withdraw their earnings to their own M-Pesa number.
Are the people on Jirani checked?
Phone numbers are confirmed with a code before any money can be withdrawn. The Verified badge means Jirani has checked their ID. For plumbing, electrical work, cooking and childcare, listings show whether Jirani has checked the provider's certificate, licence or past work.
What if the job is not done well?
Don't approve it. Report a problem on the order instead: the payment stays frozen while Jirani looks at what happened and decides whether to pay the provider or refund you.
Can I see someone's phone number?
No. Phone numbers and emails stay private, and chat hides contact details. That keeps you safe and keeps your payment protected by escrow.
How much does it cost?
Signing up is free. Clients pay a small service fee at checkout (5%). Providers pay a commission (10%) only on money they earn, plus KSh 100 to publish a service. The app always shows the exact amounts before you pay.
Where does Jirani work?
Jirani starts in Nairobi and works anywhere in Kenya where members offer services. You choose your area, and the app shows what is near you first.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, open Me and tap Delete my account. You can also ask us to delete it from this website.
